To Make a Payment
Click here to pay an outstanding balance using a credit card, your checking account, or Google Pay. The payment portal will ask for your email, patient ID, last name, and zip code. Your patient ID can be found on your statement. But, if you don’t have a statement nearby, just enter your last name a second time in the patient ID field and you’ll be able to continue. Once you have entered the payment portal, you can either set up an account or just continue as a guest.
Insurance
Most health care insurance offers coverage for mental health. Prior to working with me, I recommend that you contact your insurance carrier to obtain information about your mental health benefits, your annual deductible, and your co-pay or co-insurance payment. Your health insurance coverage is an agreement between you and your insurance company. In order to bill your insurance carrier for you, I will need to get your written authorization.
Insurance usually pays for individual and group therapy, and often for 30-minute tele-heath (phone) sessions as well. I do not bill insurance companies for couples therapy. If you are a couples therapy client and you would like to apply to your insurance company for reimbursement, you may do so using the ICD-10 code, Z63.0, “Problems in relationship with spouse or partner”. However, this code is rarely covered by insurance and you should check with your provider.
IN NETWORK
I am a preferred provider for:
• Premera BlueCross
• LifeWise
• Cigna
• Medicare
• Kaiser Permanente
OUT OF NETWORK
If I am not in-network for your insurance provider, I do not bill your insurance company. Instead, I ask that you pay my full fee on the day of service, and I will give you the paperwork (superbill) you will need to seek reimbursement from your insurance company.
If I am not in-network for you insurance provider, I suggest you check with them about how you will be reimbursed for my services. You may want to ask, “What percentage of fees will be reimbursed for psychotherapy services from an “out-of-network” provider who is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Washington State?”
You can tell your insurance provider that the CPT code I use for 55-minute therapy sessions is 90837, for 45-minute sessions it’s 90834, and for 30-minute sessions the code is 90832. Reimbursement is often in the 50%-85% range.
I also do not bill insurance companies for couples therapy regardless of whether I am in or out-of-network because, while the CPT code (90847) may be covered, the diagnostic code (Z63.0 – Relationship Distress with Spouse or Intimate Partner) is not.
Rates
Rates below are for individual and couple psychotherapy:
I charge $185 for individual therapy sessions (55 minutes long).
Couples Therapy is billed at $195 for 55 minute sessions.
Sessions longer than 55 minutes will be pro-rated based on the 55-minute rate.
I also offer a free 30-minute consultation by phone, in-person, or virtually to potential new clients.
Payment
Payment for service is an important part of any professional relationship. I have a secure payment portal on my website that you can use to make payments. I use Sound Billing Solutions for my billing and payments. They will send you a statement monthly for any balances owed for copays, coinsurance, or deductibles. You can use the payment portal or mail a check along with the statement in the payment envelop that will be provided. If you prefer to pay at the time of service, payment can be made at the session or online via the website portal.
For questions about your account, you may contact Kim Berger at kberger@soundbillingsolutions.com or by phone at 360-297-8805.
Cancellations and Missed Appointments
When you make an appointment with me, you are reserving that time for yourself. If you cancel with more than 48 hours’ notice (M-F), that gives me time to try to fill your space, and you will not be charged. However, if you cancel an appointment with less than 48 hours notice or miss your appointment entirely, you will be responsible for paying for the missed appointment.
